What a busy weekend and a beautiful day on Sunday for us to enjoy.
The Charnwood Marathon, from Quorn Leics. which runs through lovely countryside, was walked by Stuart Ashley and John Miller in 7h40m while Cheryl Kempster took the 16m option to finish in 3h39m.
Eight members ran The Lincoln 10k with 4253 others in the sunshine all in excellent times. Darren Wilkinson was first back in 49m37s closely followed by Stu Chase who posted 49m56. Claire Wood was close on their heels in 50m28s. Andy Rowlands delivered in 54m29 just in front of Kate Fisher in 54m49s. Jo Wilson was happy with 57m12s while Colin Green was delighted with 57m29s. Mary Freer is getting back to form and finished in 1h02m49s. A great time was had by all. Thanks to Ernie and Cathy for all their support and flag waving.
The Clumber Duathlon challenged Steve and Sue Needham to run and cycle. Steve (10K/40K/5K) finished in 3h02m43s while Sue did the sprint event (5K/20K/2.5K) in 1h46m43s.
Chris McDonnell went east to run 20m at East Hull partly as training for The Manchester Marathon and did a fine 2h32m14s, while Paul Zemontas went west to run 20m at Ashby before The London Marathon and finished in 3h25m.
Adam Holland won The Gin Pit Marathon Day 1 on Saturday in a course record of 2h53m42s and Day 2 on Sunday in 3h09m47s to become the Overall Prize Winner.
Finally; I don’t know if a Wolf’s Pit is better or worse than a Gin Pit; but Liz Walton and David Watt chose The Wolf’s Pit Fell Race at Bamford in The Peak District. They ran 5.7m with 1469ft of ascent in 1h08m and 57m38s respectively.
