It has been a great weekend again for our active club members.  Even on a Barcelona holiday, Kira Green ran a half marathon along with another 15,000, to finish in 2h47m.  She can now relax and enjoy a rest.

The East Midlands Cross Country League was another successful event, this week in Colwick Woods.  It was a proper cross country course including woods, killer hills and plenty of mud.  Adam Holland 30m00s had a great run but just misjudged his final challenge to be beaten into second place by another excellent athlete.  Our veteran men’s team of, Jeremy Reichelt 43m07s, Steve Needham 49m47s, David Gill 50m58s and Andy Watts 60m49s coped well with the challenge and finished comfortably.  They are currently in 6th/10 place  Our only senior lady, Anna Fisher 27m29s ran well for the club and our veteran ladies team of Kate Fisher 26m05s, Cheryl Kempster 26m40s and Sue Needham 28m28s put in an excellent performance and are currently in 5th/9 place.  Everybody enjoyed their morning out and the occasion. The Stamford Valentine’s 30 K race is one of the prestigious road races locally attracting a full house of 750 runners.  It is used by many as a good training run in preparation for The London Marathon.  The race is run through quiet lanes in lovely countryside.  It has the reputation of being 18 miles long with 18 hills but the weather was kind and the Stamford Strider marshals were amazing; such friendly and motivating people.  Piotr Dura ran in 2h26m30s while Tomáš T?eš?ák did an even more impressive 2h00m29s.  Andy Pritchett was 2 minutes faster than last year in 3h02m.  Jo Wilson has never covered this distance before and was happy to finish in a fine time of 3h21m as it gives her confidence for a strong London Marathon performance.  It was great day out for all.
