A record number of 45 NOTFAST runners, including members, friends and family, enjoyed the winter sunshine at the club’s annual 10K/5K club run on Sunday, and were joined by several more members afterwards for their annual awards ceremony. Adam Holland won the 10k in 38:43, and was later awarded Club Runner of the Year, as well as receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award for his 2000 mile run around the UK in aid of the Champions Walk for Peace charity. Ernie Clarke was awarded Club Member of the year for his work with the NOTFAST beginners group “joggers and plodders”. Most improved runner went to Sue Needham, and awards were also presented for achievements in the Summer League, Gordon Whelbourne, and East Midland Cross Country events. Awards were presented by club Chairman Stuart Ashley.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Sue and Steve Needham took part in the Disney Marathon in Orlando dressed as Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Starting at 5:30 a.m. they took in the four Disney Parks of Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot and finished in 6h32.This well organised event had around 20,000 entrants, over half of which were female.
