On Wednesday night four of our runners did the Notts 5 mile race along Victoria Embankment in Nottingham. After a thunderous downpour around half an hour before the start, the weather returned to being very warm and humid. First NOTFAST runner back, having dodged the geese on the path, was Jeremy Reichelt in 39:16, followed by David Gill, 41:59, Pete Tatton 56:19, and Beth Webster, overcoming serious leg pain to finish her first 5 miler in 64:22.

We had two runners taking part in the Outlaw Ironman Triathlon on Sunday, which consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. Kira Green, who has previously done the swimming leg as part of team, this year did the marathon-length run. It was hot and tough, and Kira was disappointed to run a pw of 6h39, but the team did well and finished in 13h37. David Watt completed the full triathlon in 13h25.

The main event of the weekend was the Conti 24hr Thunder Run at Catton Park near Walton on Trent. The aim is for runners, either solo, in pairs, or in teams of 5 or 8, to complete as many 10k laps as possible in 24 hours. The course is a challenging off road course with steep hills, dark and winding woods, fields and grassland and rocky uneven hard tracks.

NOTFAST RC had 31 runners taking part in the event. Our first team of 5 comprised 3 generations of the same family; Colin Green, Kate Fisher, and Anna Fisher (Anna running 3 laps just 5 weeks after giving birth to daughter Isla). They were joined by Damian Davies and Tomas Tresnak to complete a total of 23 laps and gain a team place of 42/96.

The second team of 5 included Andy Pritchett, Jim Lovett, Janet Davies, Emily Betty, and Adam Jackson, who completed 20 laps and were placed 83/96.

Our first team of 8 was made up of Jeremy Reichelt, Cheryl Kempster, Faye Hemingway, Julie Mumby, Paul Betty, Angela Brown, Richard Borrill, and John Blundy, completing 21 laps and being placed 191/239

The second team of 8 included Darren Wilkinson, Kirsty Watt, Annette Taylor, Andy Floyd, Amy Borrill, Stuart Hawkes, Edward Casebourne and Beth Webster, completing 22 laps and coming 162/239.

Adam Holland and Adrian Mumby ran as a pair, completing 20 laps and coming 6/15.

3 of our runners decided to run solo; Bob Oakham, who did 3 laps (61/64), Piotr Dura – 13 laps (17/64), and Caroline Upton who was second solo lady completing 15 laps! (2/33)

A huge thank you to the team managers Jill Oakham, Marian Green, Peter Brown and Rebecca.
