Stuart Ashley took on the LDWA 100 mile challenge in Dorset this weekend. It was very hot and humid with threat of thunderstorms. Starting at 10 am on Saturday Stuart pushed on until 6 pm on Sunday when the energy-sapping heat finally got too much and he reluctantly retired before the end – however, he managed to complete 82.9 miles, which is a fantastic achievement!

Five of our members took part in the Rat Race events at Clumber Park on Saturday. Caroline Upton did the half marathon, her first race after recovering from her broken wrist, and she was happy to get round in 1h59, with the added bonus of coming 2nd in her age group. Sue and Steve Needham also did the half marathon, but no times posted yet.

Adam Jackson and Kirsty Watt both achieved PBs in the 10k event. Adam just snuck under 55 minutes in 54:59, and Kirsty was really pleased with her first sub-hour 58:06. They report that it was a really well organised, scenic race, with the biggest goody bag ever, and they enjoyed the free post-race massage.

Jeremy Reichelt took time out from a long weekend in Dundee to run the Monifieth High School 10k, a hot and sunny run along the scenic coastal path, which he finished in 49:55.

Piotr Dura also had a really good weekend, running a PB time of 3h11 at the Liverpool marathon.
