The Notts AAA 2nd Summer League race took place last Wednesday with superb weather for Holme Pierrepont! Well done to Diana Wakefield who came first Vet lady, Kirsty Watt who came first Senior Lady, Adam Holland who came first Senior Male and Damian Davis who came first Male Vet.

John Miller ran the Bath Two Tunnels 10k, which as you might guess runs through two disused railway tunnels, one of them a mile long. There are two routes available, and John chose the more interesting but hilly option, and finished in 1h13, first in his age category.
Adam Jackson, Rachel Sheldrake, and Julie Mumby ran the Long Clawson 10k, an off-road scenic but hilly course made really tough by the heat. Adam finished in 1h05 (after helping a fellow runner get his shoes out of what must be the only patch of mud left in the Vale of Belvoir!) Rachel finished in 1h17, and Julie (with husband Adrian who is returning from injury) in 1h44.
Adam Holland and Piotr Dura took on a very different challenge – the Wings for Life run in Cambridge. Runners in 34 locations worldwide started at exactly the same time and ran for as long as they could. There was no finish line, a Catcher Car started the chase 30 minutes after the race started and sped up slowly until everyone was overtaken and eliminated. The last one running was the global winner. Adam ran 42.8 km before the car caught up with him, making him 11th out of 2002 runners in Cambridge (3rd in age group), and 469th out of 89917 worldwide. Piotr ran 27.19 km, placing him 103rd in Cambridge (6th in age group) and 5016th worldwide.
