Kathleen Davis was at Holme Pierrepont, with her head torch on for the Spooky Sprint 10k…Two laps of the big lake in ..50mins 45secs

David Watts, another with a head torch on went to a very bleak and freezing Beacon Hill, over Loughborough way for the incredibly popular 5 mile Skeleton Run.  Up and down the hill twice dressed in Halloween fancy dress is mostly done for fun, so David did not bother with his stop-watch…performance in this event is measured in laughs and not falling over…Oh,..and not dying of exposure.  This event attracts 250 runners in all manner of weird garb,..apparently including a runner with a shoe stuck to his head and a dog in a skeleton suit.

In the world of athletics, this really is top-end stuff. eh ?

Mike Bullock and Caroline Upton also braved the cold in order to take on the challenge that is the Thruscross 5-Hour  ‘Never Rest’ ultra run.   This is how it goes:  Run for 5 hours round Thruscross Reservoir and see how many 5 mile laps you can cover. The fantastic duo really came up trumps with Mike winning the Mens event with 25 miles under his belt and Caroline second in the Ladies event with 20miles

A wonderful Notfast achievement with the pair being awarded special metal badges that look like American Interstate signs,…and wait for this,..they were both presented with monster Pork Pies, some 160mm in diameter….this is even bigger than Mikes head,… and a real treat, no mistake, for Caroline being a committed Vegetarian
