RESULTS 14TH MARCH 2011

One of our members was horsing around in Henley on Thames for the 1st in the Notorious Night Run series. This one was called The Horseplay 10K (and a bit). Immense amounts of fun running around the private Hambleden Estate with 20 horse jumps and fences, water obstacles, calf screaming hills, bum skidding downhills, through dense forest in the pitch black whilst wearing horse rosettes, carrying a whip and wearing a jockey silk hat!

Who was it? – Well you may there’s only one or two members that it could be. Yes you’re right ………….
Jill McIntyre. Jill’s time was 1.31.58 and she was the 24th female.

Mike Bullock reports on his first attempt at the East Retford Half Marathon.

500 runners , mainly club athletes.

Half the field beat 97 mins so quite speedy.

Unremarkable course – a mix of country lanes and main roads.

Sporadic spectators but cheerful when they appeared.

No massive hills but lots of long steady ups and downs apart from a cheeky one at 12.3 miles which finished me off !!!

Perfect weather – cool and drizzly.

One grumble is that there’s too much of the course on main roads: cars were courteous but a little unnerving.

Anyway this was my final outing before the biggie – the 12 hour Lightning run next Sunday !!! Apparently this is an incredibly hilly technical offroad course and I’m getting more nervous by the day.

Having run a pb at Sleaford 3 weeks ago, and struggled with a pulled hamstring ever since I didnt expect a good run but much to my surprise I crossed the line in 1hr 25 mins and 9 secs …..another pb and 30th place !!!
Mike.
