Caroline Upton, number 666, had a devilish run on The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon on Sunday 15th June as part of the European Mountain Marathon series.  Caroline says, ‘we runners certainly got our money’s worth – a full 26.2 miles – most of it seemingly vertically uphill or else a mass of ankle crunching boulders while flailing back down; tarmac was noticeable by its absence!  Beautiful scenery, but generally ouch, apart from initial nice flat section along shores of Derwent Water.  I staggered round in 6hrs 56 minutes- Not Fast – but Not Last.’  In fact Caroline was 17th lady and 6th out of 14 in her age group.

The North Muskam Fun Runs are always a popular local event and were held this year on a fine sunny day while runners enjoyed running by The Trent and around the lake.  Colin Green was the first NOTFAST runner back; but only because he ran 5K in 34m10s while the other eight ran 10K.  Jeremy Reichect was quickest in 47m54s followed by Darren Wilkinson 48m22s, Martin Dickenson 51m40s, Stuart Chase 52m12s, Andy Pritchett 52m53s, Andrew Rolands 56m12s, Ann Manley 57m16s and Heather Denny 57m18s.
