Sunday saw 20 odd Notfast Running Club members at Long Bennington for, what has now become a local institution…The 10k…Now this is a super race and despite some demanding sections it seems to offer the chance for pretty good times. This year was no exception, the weather was pretty near perfect after the torrid conditions in 2010, organisation, venue and marshalling all spot on..
The Long Bennington 10k is a club Grand Prix event and this would have explained the good turnout in addition to the above. Get a gang of Notfasts together and you have a recipe for a bit of a party any time but pin some numbers on them and the atmosphere goes up another notch. Everyone seemed to have a ‘good day’ of it.
Here are the numbers :
Mike Bullock 40.02 Jill McIntyre 51.43
Martin Dickenson 49.28 Simon Martell 49.51
Kate Fisher 53.59 John Miller 57.58
John Geeson 52.03 Ann Manley 58.02
Mary Freers 60.00 Andy Pritchett 51.02
Colin Green 59.15 Pete Tatton 68.00
Marilyn Hatherley 56.34 Wyn Thomas 49.36…….PB !!
Allison Lawrence 56.47 Darren Wilkinson 51.19
Claire Moyes 61.38 Andy Watts 68.55
Lyn McDonnell 55.10
Bob Oakham did the 5 k course in 28.58
Liz Walton and Dick Brumby did a ‘Norman Tebbit’ and got on their bikes over at Southwell for Tonyas Challenge, a charity ride. 37 miles of hard off-road pedalling over some very tough terrain, made harder as a result of recent dry weather. They both enjoyed themselves. This little lot took them about 4 hours each, Liz pretty chuffed with herself for not falling off once ! Dick was also happy even though his brand new (white) bike “looks a bit second hand “
