Notfast was founded in 1986 as a veterans’ running club and is open to anyone over the age of 35. There is no upper age limit and we still have active members in their 70’s and 80’s. We cater for all abilities from the experienced runner to the complete beginner who has done little or no running, and also have a small group of walkers. Many of the walkers are long standing members who perhaps no longer wish to run but still enjoy the social atmosphere of the club and the opportunity to keep fit.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly, sociable club who always enjoy getting together and enjoying the company of fellow runners/walkers. New members will be made welcome whether you wish to compete in races, run as part of a team for the club or just run to keep fit. An information pack is available on our new members’ page. Any new ideas or suggestions you wish to make to the club, please speak to a Committee Member who will be happy to listen and/or help. We aim to organise several social events throughout the year and invite members to offer suggestions. Previously we have enjoyed a night at “the dogs”, a Pizza/Pasta evening, Quiz Nights, Ten Pin Bowling, Skittles, and of course the customary Christmas Dinner.
The club meets twice a week; on Tuesday evening we meet at Woods Court Residential Home, off Walker Close, Newark NG24 4BP and on Thursday evening we meet at Flowserve Sports and Social Club, off Hawton Lane, Balderton, Newark. NG24 3BU. If you are over 35 you are welcome to come along to the training sessions and run with us for two or three weeks before you decide whether to join us. Annual subscriptions are currently £22.00.
